Worst Persons: Jessica Yellin, Justice David Prosser, Glenn Beck
Fridays with Thurber: If Grant Had Been Drinking At Appomattox
Here are Countdown's top three nominees for today's Worst Persons in the Worrrrld.
The bronze to Jessica Yellin of CNN. This is from one of their prime-time news hours last night and she's guest-hosting, interviewing Gene Sperling, the President's Director of the National Economic Council about the Debt Ceiling talks.
Remember, this is the network that claims to be neutral and only news and no talking points. And its show host says...
"If this is as dire as the White House says it is, and as it would seem the capital markets are suggesting it is, why not just give the Republicans want they want? Why not just cave and say, "you know what? You want only cuts, fine. To save America and save the economy, we'll give you cuts, we'll raise the debt ceiling, and we'll fight another day on the other issues that matter to Democrats."
Uh-huh. Lemme ask you this, Ms. Yellin. If CNN's situation is as dire as it would seem the ratings are suggesting it is, why not just give Current what they want? Why not just cave and say, "you know what? You want to be successful, fine. To save America and the news business, we, CNN, we're going off the air, because we are lost, and nowadays, being quote 'neutral' means you do whatever you can to reassure Crazy Conservatives that you're not a Liberal." By the way, Ms. Yellin is now the Chief White House Correspondent for CNN. I don't know how that happened. Last time I saw her, we had just laid her off from doing overnight news cut-ins at MSNBC.
The silver tonight: good old Wisconsin State Supreme Court Justice David "Mad Dog" Prosser.
It's not enough he threatened to destroy the **Chief** Justice - and called her a bitch. Not enough he tried to choke a **Liberal** member of the Court....
Now he's extended his warm and welcoming anger-management-envelopped personality to... The media. Milwaukee T-V Reporter Mike Lowe went to ask Justice Prosser about the day he tried to choke Justice Bradley.
"DID SHE COME AT YOU?...JUSTICE DAVID PROSSER GRABBED OUR MICROPHONE BUT ON SECOND THOUGHT HE DECIDED HE DIDN'T HAVE ANY USE FOR IT. HE DIDN'T WANT TO ANSWER ANY OF OUR QUESTIONS."
Punchline... As you may have noticed, the guy was from the local **Fox** station. Just resign already, Judge.
But our winner: speaking of Fox... Lonesome Rhodes -- winning from beyond the t-v grave! Something none of **us** noticed... But Media Matters did.
Beck's sign-off yesterday. He wrote the names of 27 members of his "TV Production Crew" on his infamous Blackboard and added his own production company, "Mercury Radio Arts."
And... he... misspelled... "Mercury." "Mercury" -- with an **e**, Glennie. M-**E**-R... Not M-U-R...
What a putz.
Glenn Beck. Beck... spelled "C-R-A-Z-Y"... Today's Worst Person In The World.
